Since 1997, the state of Tennessee has had its own football franchise. The Titans, who had been relocated from their previous home in Houston (where they were called the Oilers), were led for many of the early years of their time in Tennessee by a man known to many simply as “Air” McNair. Steve McNair was one of those football media darlings whose presence on the field was always sure to elicit a combination of cheers and groans – but never leave the viewer bored or unexcited. As the Titans’ quarterback, they experienced a run that sent them to the playoffs in four seasons, and earned them a place in the thirty-fourth Super Bowl.
