The baseball team at Auburn University was more commonly referred to as the Auburn Tigers. They were known to play in the NCAA Division I college baseball. They were known to be part of the Western Division of the Southeastern Conference.
The current head coach who is coaching the team for his first year is John Pawlowski. All the home games that are played by Auburn taken place in the Plainsman Park, which is their home ground.
Their stadium has a capacity of about 4096 spectators and fans. Their uniform has always been burnt orange and navy blue. There have been four coaches before John took over this year. Their names were Paul Nix, Hal Baird, Steve Renfroe and Tom Slater. Having appeared in 17 NCCA Regionals and the CWS four times, they have won six SEC championships already. There were a few players that made it to major league as well from Auburn University.
One of them, Gabo Gross is still going strong and being an outfielder, is known to be a left hand batter and a right hand thrower. Born on 21st October 1979, Gabe made his first appearance on 7th August 2004 for the Toronto Blue Jays; but it is said, that during his entire career period, he has changed teams four times.
After the Toronto Blue Jays, he moved to Milwaukee Brewers and the Tampa Bay Rays. At the current moment he is the number 28 playing for Oakland Athletics. He has quite an impressive record already with a batting average of 0.243 and 39 home runs. He has 159 runs in total in which he batted himself as well.
Another famous player that is still going strong is Tim Hudson. Tim was born on July 14th 1975. He had his debut for Oakland Athletics on June 8th, 1999. Being a right batsman and right handed starting pitcher, Tim has been able to maintain a win loss ratio of 148-78. He has an earned run average of 3.49 and 1395 strike outs.
In 2005, Tim moved on to join the Atlanta Braves where he is at present and plays at number 15 as a starting pitcher. He has the honor of being selected twice during his career to play for the All Star team in 2000 and 2004. He was also a player for the Led AL when they won in 2000.
A famous player of his times was Gregg Olson who was born on 11th October 1966. Although his first appearance was on 2nd September 1988 with the Baltimore Orioles, he changed teams nine times and played for the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Minnesota Twins, Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers.
Greg ended his major league career by making his final appearance on 22nd June 2001 playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He has been able to achieve a number of deserving records during his illustrious career.
